As Saint Lucians remain stoic in the face of the global pandemic, a modest relaxation of some of the government’s Covid-19 safety standards has allowed for a reminder that it is the strength of community that is helping the country remain strong and work towards normalization.
At the NTN TV Studio, representatives of DSH Caribbean Star Limited and the Royal Saint Lucia Turf Club were on hand to present a cheque to the government for their support of the national response directed through the Covid-19 Telethon.
Mr. Ng Chee Choy (Project Director, DSH Caribbean Star Limited) and Mr. Ben Walden (Chief Operating Officer, Royal Saint Lucia Turf Club) presented the Hon. Dominic Fedee (Tourism Minister) with a cheque of EC212,031 with all funds directed to the national Covid-19 response.
‘Community’ is a pillar of DSH Caribbean Star Limited and the Royal Saint Lucia Turf Club and the unified response to support Saint Lucia’s Covid-19 response from staff and management is testament to an unwavering intent to once again demonstrate this belief.

SAINT LUCIA is poised for significant advances in its tourism product and business environment thanks to the “Pearl of the Caribbean” project which is expected to commence construction in 2017. The southern-based project, estimated to cost about US$2.6 billion, is a fully integrated equestrian oriented development which will encompass the Royal Saint Lucia Turf Club and its expected world class horse racing, and related entertainment, leisure and accommodation amenities. At a sod-turning ceremony last Friday by Prince Harry there were several announcements made on the impact of the project and the unique opportunities it brings.
Saint Lucia is to become home to an iconic resort and lifestyle development after Prime Minister Hon. Allen Chastanet signed an agreement, Friday, to build the first and only international-standard integrated development. The “Pearl of the Caribbean” is valued at over USD$2.6 billion
THE perennial lament that the island’s southern quadrant has been short on development is likely to become a thing of the past following a major development project earmarked for that area, announced yesterday. Prime Minister Allen Chastanet and Chairman of Desert Star Holdings Ltd, Teo Ah Khing, signed an agreement that should pave the way for a US$2.6 billion international standard integrated development. Dubbed “Pearl of the Caribbean”, the major multifaceted 700-acre project will include a marina, racecourse, resort and shopping mall complex, casino, free trade zone, extensive entertainment and leisure facilities and over 1500 architecturally-designed villas and apartments.
In the world of horse racing, nothing is more distinguished – or elusive – than the US Triple Crown. Considered among the most accomplished honours in thoroughbred racing, it is awarded to a three-year-old horse that wins three successive races: the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes – three stand-alone feature events run in three different states, at three different distances in only five weeks! Only 13 horses have ever been Triple Crown winners over the course of 143 years.
